Just got hit by a big old Weston Family freight train & I loved it! Acting & writing smart/dark, funny/sad, astonishingly/electrifyingly real. Parsons et al got a standing O from our PDX matinee crowd

The writing never draws you in to empathize with the characters. Rather... you laugh at them and feel uncomfortable but you never feel wholly engaged... An unfulfilled drama...
Cody – Fortuna, California

I loved the play, saw it in NY, and again today in LA. The audience ruined it for me, they treated it like a sitcom. Laughing way too much. Anyone else bugged by that?

I am reminded once again that we Southerners cannot claim sole rights to family secrets, dysfunction and undue drama! Loved loved loved this play - do NOT miss it.

August:Osage County is one of the best theatrical experiences that I have ever had. It is written with much wit. The performances are amazing and truly show that there is hope for American theatre.

August: Osage County is hilarious and heartbreaking. The beauty and darkness of the rural American family is perfectly portrayed, even though the Westons make most of us look like the Bradys!
Matthew – Tecumseh, OK

This is undoubtably one of the most gripping, best acted and emotionally moving dramas that I have seen in my 50 years of avid theatregoing. This is an incredible theatric experience! It is a JOY.

A fascinating view of "the most dysfunctional theater family" I have ever seen - the play touches on every aspect of missed dreams and opportunities wasted. Something for everyone to relate to.
Lois – Pikesville
3/20/08
Whatever humor and insight this play may have offered, it did not work for me on an aesthetic level. Too many characters, none of them developed to the point where they could elicit any empathy.
James – Highland Park, NJ

Absolutely brilliant!! I was originally concerned I might find the play long but it literally flew by. I needed the two intermissions to catch my breath! Outstanding performances! Outstanding script.

Great, well-written play with terrific acting throughout the cast. Plot is well-crafted with one revelation after another slowly being exposed. Three and a half after hours went by very quickly!

This is the best show of the year. The stealthy thing about the play is that you think it is outrageous until it dawns on you how realistic it is. This play has stayed with me since I saw it. Kudos.

I had the priveledge of seeing the show shortly after it opened, with my parents. All 3 of us are actors/writers, and although we see a lot, this was deliciously satisfying on every level. Cheers!

Absolutley fantastic! It is so enjoyable and so exhausting. Amazing that there are laughs but thank God there are! Otherwise the audience would have to be carried out on strechers.

Wonderful play. But I doubt even the author would admit to breaking new ground. The play is actually more like American Chekov. Great dialogue with characters you care to think about during and aft

The staging, acting, set, and of course script are close to perfect. Only part that makes me say "close" is that the last act seemed a bit contrived--to close up each story--even if ambiguously.
claire – New York, NY

I loved it. It was the most disfunctional family ever. The acting was fantastic, especially the mother. I hope it gets lots of Tonys.
Llla – White Plains, N.Y.

Powerful stuff, but I did NOT, despite the many clever lines and the sometimes light handed delivery, find this piece funny. Tragic, yes...funny, no--sure, much of this is sterotypically southern..

This play inspires playwriting. It was acted out extremely well; each character naturally developed to a point where they said what none of us ever would, while the emotions expressed were very real.

Tracy Letts epic journey; a voyage that when the it ends, you have no idea what time it is in the real world and you don’t realize that you just sat through 3+ hours of some of the best theatre ever.

Never had a moment in my life like I did at the end of Act 2: simultaneously laughing hysterically, projectile crying, and almost throwing up. I held my program over my face so as not to scare people.
